List of items you will need to be ready

for Diaper Changing Central:

Changing table or changing pad with non-skid bottom

You can skip this item if you plan to change baby on the floor, your bed or even your couch. Many new parents like a dedicated changing area, however, and you can even get a pad that can go on top of a dresser and turn that into your changing area.

Changing pad covers

The changing pad will likely be used a lot. You’ll want at least a couple extra covers on hand since you may find babies seem to have a way of getting them dirty.

Waterproof pads (reusable and/or disposable)

Extra pads will extend the life of your changing pad covers and keep you from doing constant laundry. Disposable pads can be useful for travel as well.

Diapers

Of course diapers are essential! Cloth are the most “green” earth friendly diapers and are highly recommended, but just make sure you have diapers!
Diapers.com offer free shipping and discounts, and big box stores like Target, Sam’s, and Costco often have the best deals. If you sign up for Amazon Mom will get you free shipping on all your orders plus a 30% discount on select diapers (!) so take advantage of that great deal! You’ll go through up to 10 diapers a day, sometimes a few in mere minutes. Buy in bulk to save money and avoid frequent trips to the store.

Wipes

In the beginning, you can simply use cotton squares dipped in warm water. Going green means you might buy a bolt of soft cotton and cut into squares that you wash and reuse as wipes or simply use a thin baby washcloth that you wash and reuse.. Or pick up several boxes of traditional pre-moistened baby wipes.

Barrier or diaper rash cream

If your sweetie pie develops a rash, you’ll want some kind of diaper rash cream or “barrier” cream, creating a buffer between skin and diapers. There are lots of brands to choose from, but it seems like Boudreaux’s Butt Paste is a favorite of my Mommy pals. Some mommies just depend on petroleum jelly, though I recommend un-petroleum jelly since it is better for baby’s skin.

Diaper pail and refill bags

You will definitely need this item if you are using cloth. You could possibly skip this item if you are using disposable and have a trash can nearby, however…Consider this… you have every intention of bringing diapers straight to the trash bin, but with frequent changes and middle of the night disasters, you may want to contain the stench as soon as possible with a diaper pail. It’s good idea to keep refill bags handy, too.

 Diaper stacker or organizer

You’ll want diapers, wipes and other changing supplies within easy reach of your changing pad. You can use storage bins, baskets, or a traditional diaper stacker.

Hand sanitizer

You might want a big bottle of hand sanitizer right next to the changing station for quick before and after hand cleaning. While you’re at it, get a few travel sized bottles for your diaper bag, purse, and your car.

Laundry hamper

It is best to have a laundry hamper somewhere within shooting distance from the changing pad to contain clothing that didn’t survive the last diaper change. will get you free shipping on all your orders plus a 30% discount on select diapers (!) so take advantage of that great deal! You’ll go through up to 10 diapers a day, sometimes a few in mere minutes. Buy in bulk to save money and avoid frequent trips to the store.
