Yay! The time has come to bring baby home. Preparing for your baby to come home is a wonderful time to consider all the things you will want to have ready. This process is a fun and joyous time for both moms and dads. Whether you are adopting, home birthing, bringing a baby home from the hospital right away, or if you are bringing your baby after a time of medical attention in the hospital… the excitement is unstoppable.
I have a few wonderful ideas for you to prepare and enjoy this wonderful time in your lives. First of all – just have fun with it. You are a wonderful human being and you will know exactly what you and your baby needs. This is an amazing time of learning and discovery about the basic needs of life. Life is given and you are embracing it! Mothers who are having babies in the hospital will want to have loose fitting clothing that is comfortable for you and the baby to go home in – you can pack a bag in advance for your return home.
Remember when packing the items for your baby to wear home – keep it simple. Less is more here – complicated outfits are not necessary (and can be frustrating) for both you and the little one. Comfort and temperature correct outfits are the most important factors to consider. If you want to throw in a hat or special blanket for the baby pictures at the hospital, please feel free.
The main thing to remember is that you do not want to worry about the homecoming event. Stay calm, relax, and enjoy both the preparation and the actual event. You will be wonderful at preparing all that is needed for you and your baby to come home. There are no specific lists that are needed but there are some items that you have to have to carry your baby home.
A car seat is one item that you must have. You are not able to bring the baby home without this item in tow. You will want to check standard checklists for bringing your baby home and be practical about it. Really less is more. It’s more about the experience that you and your baby feel while being together on this journey – not this items in your bag!
